Feminist theory

Our Intro to Feminist Theory class created images for the "Who Needs Feminism" (WNF) project in the style of some of the feminist theorists we read together. The WNF project was started by students at Duke University last year to promote a discussion of feminism and to de-stigmatize the term itself. Their work quickly went viral and has spread across the globe. (See http://whoneedsfeminism.tumblr.com/)
As part of their final assignment, students imagined what one of our authors would have submitted to WNF. Students were asked to consider if their author was alive today, what their digital contribution would look like and what it would it say. Students then made an image, sometimes using photographs of the author, or other found-images to evoke the message in the text more broadly. The text in the image was meant to be specific enough that our class could guess the identity of the author. (This made a great game on the final day of class and generated excellent discussion!)
