Yoko Suzuki is a part-time instructor in the Music Department and the Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies program. She earned a Ph.D. in ethnomusicology and a Ph.D. certificate in GSWS from Pitt in 2011. Her research interests include jazz, African American music, American popular culture, Japanese popular music, and theories of race, gender, and sexuality. She has published articles in journals such as Black Music Research JournalAmerican Music Review, and Gender, Education, Music, and Society
