In summer term 1: GSWS0200 Sex, Race, and Popular Culture (Crosby); GSWS1170 Queer Theory (Beaulieu).

In summer term 2: GSWS0100 Intro to GSWS (Skoczylas); GSWS0500 Feminist Theory (Cohen).

2015 Iris Marion Young Honorees

The University of Pittsburgh Gender, Sexuality, and Women's Studies Program, in conjunction with GSPIA, is happy to announce the winners of the 2015 Iris Marion Young Award: Robin Clarke (faculty); Abby Yochum (graduate student); and Marko Gudic (undergraduate). The Iris Marion Young Award for Political Engagement honors members of the Pitt community who have worked on behalf of social justice and democracy. See the IMY section of our website

AY16-17: Masculinities

Next academic year, GSWS will host a series of courses and events, including a colloquium, on the topic of masculinities. Students and faculty with ideas for speakers, books/articles to discuss, etc. are encouraged to contact the Director, Prof. Todd Reeser at We aim to involve a variety of units in interdisciplinary inquiry into this topic. Events on the topic of black masculinities, trans* masculinities, affect/emotion, violence, and other topics are envisioned.

Position Available: Lecturer in Sexuality Studies

The Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies (GSWS) Program at the University of Pittsburgh invites applications for a non-tenure-steam lecturer position in sexuality studies. Pending budgetary approval, the position will begin in fall 2016 with an initial two-year contract, with the possibility of obtaining renewable three-year contracts after satisfactory performance reviews.
