As further suggested reading, we are also proposing two chapters from Gayle Salamon, Assuming a Body (2010): Chapters 3 and 4: "Boys of the Lex: Transgender and Social Construction" and "Transfeminism and the Future of Gender.”

Faculty and graduate students in Pitt Humanities departments will be able to access readings by logging in to <my.pitt.edu>, clicking on the tab “My Resources,” clicking on “Humanities Center,” and then clicking on “Colloquium Series” where there is a link to the PDF files.

Judith Halberstam, Professor of English, American Studies and Ethnicity, and Gender Studies, at the University of Southern California, will be in residence at the Humanities Center from January 30 to February 4. This visit will include lectures and colloquia on the future of queer/gender studies and on Halberstam’s recent work on gender, sexuality, and power. See www.humcenter.pitt.edu for dates and times.

This group is being coordinated by Todd Reeser, Associate Professor of French, and Cathy Hannabach, Women’s Studies Program Visiting Lecturer.
