Are you interested in submitting a paper for the Undergraduate Conference on Gender and the Body later this spring? The deadline – Sunday, January 31 – is quickly approaching! Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies program instructors will be holding an information session on Friday, Jan. 29, at 3 p.m. in room 402 CL. We will be talking about writing an abstract, converting a paper into a conference presentation, delivering a clear and engaging presentation, dealing with stage fright, giving (and making use of) feedback and constructive criticism, and more.Questions? Lecture for Undergrads: "Hard Hatted Women & Wild Sisters: Lesbian Feminist Community in Pittsburgh"

Drawing on oral histories with 15 women, this lecture will examine how two self-proclaimed feminist spaces were created in Pittsburgh during the 1970s, how local conditions shaped their choice of strategies for social change, how interpersonal networks contributed to the feminist culture in these spaces and what it meant for the larger feminist community in Pittsburgh.
