The New York Times posted this interesting conversation about gender roles in The Hunger Games, and I think that for those of us who love The Hunger Games and find the character of Katniss empowering, the conversation is enlightening while still being completely noncomittal at the same time. The reviewers posit that Katniss exists in a non-gendered space. However, can a non-gendered space ever truly exists? Manohla Dargiss even goes further to say that Katniss exists in a non-gendered and non-raced space.
