WELCOME TO WOMEN'S STUDIES! We are an interdisciplinary academic program focusing on women, gender, and sexuality. Women's Studies (WOMNST) courses together with cross-listed courses in various departments across the university provide opportunities for students and faculty to explore the changing roles of gender in the United States and globally as it intersects in complex ways with such factors as race, class, ethnicity, ability, and sexual orientation. We offer undergraduate, graduate, and continuing education certificate programs that connect students and faculty across disciplinary fields and with the larger community. All Women's Studies lectures, film series, brownbags, and other events are free and open to the public.

• Scholarship/Creative Activity: Women's Studies faculty and students are at the forefront of work in gender studies. The program supports gender-related scholarship and creative activity through funds for faculty and students--undergraduate and graduate. We also honor outstanding graduate and undergraduate writing through our several writing awards; and we provide the primary forum for gender-related lectures, brownbags, and other events.
  
• Teaching/Learning: Women's Studies supports gender-related teaching through a Curriculum Development Fund; two Teaching Fellowships each year; brownbag discussions on feminist pedegogy; teaching internship opportunities for undergraduates; and opportunities to teach and take innovative courses as part of the Women's Studies certificate programs.
  
• Activism/Advocacy: From its inception in the early 1970's, Women's Studies has been committed to keeping teaching and scholarship in conversation with the larger community--locally, nationally, and globally. All Women's Studies events are free and open to the public. Through internships, students have opportunities to connect their academic work with their commitments to change and to learn how to become positive change agents. We also serve as a clearing house by helping to connect activist groups with the university community through our publications and online.
